The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( MMRDA) will be trying all the possible ways to woo contractors for building the over ambitious Mumbai Trans Harbor Link ( MTHL) that would connect Sewri i
n Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai.
Unlike the poor traffic prediction on the Bandra Worli Sealink ( BWSL), wherein the toll collector had to face losses, the MMRDA is planning to compensate the toll collector if the traffic using the MTHL would be lesser than the prediction. ” We would try and compensate them in some way if the traffic prediction goes wrong so that their losses are also minimized,” said Rahul Asthana, MMRDA commissioner.
MMRDA for the first time would also be compensating some of the amount of the second and third lowest bidders during the tendering for the project. ” This will motivate more companies to come forward as even applying for such a huge project would require a couple of crore,” said Asthana.
The consultants that are appointed by the MMRDA to prepare the detailed project report ( DPR) will be submitting their report by October 2012 and only then the actual construction will start.
