Mercury drops to 10.2 degree Celsius

Ujjain: City on Monday woke up to a foggy morning as temperature dipped to 10.2 degree Celsius on Sunday night. The intensified cold forced district administration to issue orders to all government, non- government and CBSE schools to start their primary classes from 9 am.

The local administration had declared a three- day holiday for students of Classes I to VIII on December 31. As cold intensified on Monday, District Education Officer RK Mishra with the approval of collector BMSharma issued orders orders to all schools to startmorning shift at 9 am from January 7.Day’s temperature also dipped to 23.2 degree Celsius on Monday.

Visibility on Monday morning was reduced to 20 meter due to the dense fog. Vehicles were moving slowly with headlights in order to avoid accident due to the foggy weather condition. Morning walkers said it was the coldest day of the season.Dozens of trains were delayed due to the fog. Most express trains arrived late by one to two hours. UjjainMunicipal Corporation did not set bonfire at prime squares of the city to give some relief to the pavement dwellers.People were seen sitting surrounding the bonfires lighted by rags spread on the roads.

School bus hits student

A school bus hit a girl student on Madhav Club road on Monday morning. Luckily the girl did not sustain any major injury and no complaint was lodged against the driver.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus driver ( MP- 13- C- 5778) of Gyan Sagar Academy was driving the bus recklessly. The girl was walking on the roadside when the bus hit her. She fell on the divider and passersby rushed to help her. According to commuters, the incident took place on the road near Lokmanya Tilak School Schoolchildren .
