Ujjain : Issues related to deteriorating level of the Akhil Bharatiya Kalidas Samaroh, neglect of Kalidas, Sanskrit and dedicated artists, unnecessary expenditures, etc, dominated the proceedings of meeting of the Local Organising Committee, held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Culture, Manoj Shrivastava, here on Thursday.
On the occasion, members gave valuable suggestions with regard to inviting the main guests for the inaugural and closing function and fixing the classical recital and dance programmes of the eminent artists. The meet decided to organise this year’s week-long Samaroh, slated for November 22, at Pt SN Vyas memorial cultural auditorium. Shrivastava assured that the traditional format of the Samaroh will be maintained at all costs.
The top bureaucrat also announced that a series of cultural programmes will be organised in Ujjain throughout the year 2016 as the State government has decided to give a status of Cultural Capital to the city. Those present on the occasion included Culture Secretary Ajatshatru Shrivastava, Divisional Commissioner Ravindra Pastor and Vikram University Vice-Chancellor Sheel Sindhu Pande among others.
