Ujjain : A Freeganj resident, who owned a holy items selling shop, jumped to death into the Kshipra River near the Mangalnath temple here on Sunday night.
The bloated body of Rajkumar Gupta (35) was extricated from the muddy waters by local divers on Monday morning. The police had been trying to extraction the body on Sunday, but were unsuccessful. The deceased jumped into the river on Sunday night after parking his motorcycle beside the ghat near the Mangalnath temple. The motive of the suicide could not be ascertained as his shocked family members were not in a position to talk. The police recovered a suicide note from the body, where Gupta allegedly confessed the suicide. The family was informed and the body was put up for a postmortem at the Civil Hospital. The exact reason for taking extreme steps is yet to known, but police said initial investigations revealed that the deceased was under depression and was also troubled by moneylenders. Chimanganj Mandi police have registered a case in this regard.
