Ujjain : Member of Parliament Dr Chintamani Malviya demanded additional central relief for farmers of Ujjain division as they have been struggling with the problem of nonstandard seeds distribution. Dr Malviya raised the issue during zero hour of Lok Sabha.
Dr Malviya made the house aware about the loss caused to farmers by the distribution of nonstandard seeds. It was informed that Agriculture Department, Marketing Association and Seed Producer Cooperative Organisations in collusion with private organizations caused heavy loss to farmers as their 60 percent crops have been damaged. Agriculture Minister was demanded for additional central help for farmers and getting the entire matter investigated by high level committee. Strict action should be taken against accused officials and farmers’ friendly steps should be taken after making effective law to stop such illegal acts.
