Ujjain : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak and former State BJP organising general secretary Makhan Singh Chauhan is all set to be crowned as the president of the Central Simhastha Fair Organising Committee (CSFOC).
Sources close to Chauhan and those placed in higher circles of the BJP on Tuesday night confirmed to the Free Press that the CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan has finalised the former’s name and announcement in this regard may be made any time from now. “Besides Makhan Singh Chauhan, names of Anil Madhav Dave and Kailash Sarang were also considered for the presidentship of the CSFOC, but the former was given preference owing to his proximity with the top RSS and BJP leaders at Nagpur and Delhi, respectively,” a source disclosed.
Announcement of the CSFOC president was doing the rounds during last couple of months, but it was delayed due to various reasons. CM was all set to announce Makhan Singh Chauhan’s appointment during the Navratri festival, but it was deferred owing to his engagement in the Bihar Assembly Elections. However, the CM gave priority to Makhan Singh Chauhan and accompanied him everywhere during the three-day International Dharma-Dhamma conference, which concluded at Indore on October 26.
Makhan Singh Chauhan’s name was considered for the CSFOC presidentship as he enjoys the stature of former CSFOC presidents namely Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia (1992) and Shitla Sahay (2004).
Prior to it, CM happened to be the CSFOC president, but looking to the stature of Rajmata and Sahay, the then CMs preferred such personalities. Though, Makhan Singh Chauhan’s name was earlier considered as coordinator between the ruling BJP and RSS at national level, but he was first tipped for the CSFOC for the time being, sources revealed.
