Vilasrao Deshmukhs death shocking

Former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmuk has left us but his smiling face will always linger in our minds. Vilasrao was the top most leader of the Congress party in Maharashtra on whose

shrewd strategies the party leaned to keep the imposing figure of Sharad Pawar under control. A stickler to details, Vilasrao had an admirably quick grasping power which held him in good stead throughout his life. He was an excellent orator who could have the audience in splits almost on every sentence he spoke in chaste Marathi. He knew every nook and corner of Maharashtra surprisingly well and gelled with grass root workers. It was very tough to bring back Latur after earthquake in original shape, but Mr. Deshmukh did it. The Congress would find it very difficult to fill in the vaccum left by the charismatic Vilasrao in Maharashtra. May his soul rest in peace! Ganapathi Bhat, Akola

Women cops molested by rioters

Several woman police constables, who were trying to manage the crowd after a law and order situation broke out in Azad Maidan, were molested by the mob. In a crowd, the presence of female, attract attention and there are chances of trouble.

More female cops gave the agitators a chance to barge on them when the trouble started. These female cops were even teased by the agitators.

Instead of deploying male police to control mob violence of over 50000 thousand agitators, the State Police department deployed female cops to control mob, which in turn invited trouble.

Violence in Mumbai

Your edit- piece on city violence is laudable for giving out a clarion call to all concerned ” to stop this madness”. The riots on Saturday go beyond the borders of Mumabi as you have rightly pointed out and portend the coming together of several groups that have sinister designs on our polity.

The unprecedented preplanned and wellorganised violence perpetrated by tens of thousands of hooligans who suddenly came from nowhere has made a mockery of the saviours of our city and given it the label of a alt39 dying cityalt39. Mumbai needs to wake up fast to the stark reality and act.

Baba Ramdev ends fast

At last yoga guru Baba Ramdev the man with loss of balance of mind have ended five day fast and the agitation with slogan ” Congress Hatao Desh Bachao”. It proves that UPA government did not bothered about him and his threats and blackmailing in the name of corruption and blackmoney.

By continue to protest and agitation till 2014 general elections by telling not to vote for Congress shows that he is agent of Sangh Parivar and the BJP and wants to topple the elected government to create unrest and violence in the country which at any cost should not be tolerated by anybody in this country.

Need of new strategy

Anna team through its wrong strategy of misusing Brahmastra of fast repeatedly even after its being flopped in Mumbai, gave Union government undue power to be mild on anti- graft steps. Instead of sharing stage with anti- graft activists, persons like General VK Singh they should have formed a group of like- minded retired authorities like Dr SY Qureshi, Justice JS Verma, Justice Santosh Hegde, JM Lyngdoh etc to put pressure on government intellectually with co- operation of media, but first on basic aspects like poll and judicial reforms apart from making implementation of existing law simpler. Stressing first on Lokpal sidelining basic aspects of poll and judicial reforms is like watering leaves rather than roots.

Time to reflect on Indias performance

Now that the curtains have been rung down on the London Olympics, it is time to reflect over Indias appalling performance and the corrections required. Sports bodies in India are hotbeds of politics and corruption and do not focus on training players and
