Lawyer arrested for allegedly raping minor, holding her captive for 14 days

Ujjain: Police registered an FIR against a lawyer for allegedly holding a minor girl captive inside his house for fourteen days and raping her, here on Wednesday. Neighbours got the victim girl released from the house of the accused after they heard her screaming. Police have arrested the accused.

According to Chimanganj Mandi police, a 17- year- old girl, resident of Sampat Nagar near Agar Naka, was forcibly held captive by a lawyer of the same locality on December 12, 2013. Accused lawyer Balkrishna, son of Kanhaiyalal Joshi, raped the victim and tortured her inside his house.

Wife and son of accused Balkrishna also accompanied him in his crime. Victim girl went to the accused lawyer’s house to ask for the procedure of making caste certificate on December 12 while her parents were not at home. Accused closed the door and held the girl captive.

He also threatened her of taking her life. On Wednesday morning, victim girl created noise from the bathroom of accused lawyer and sought help from the neighbours, who gathered and knocked the door of the lawyer to save the victim. Chimanganj Mandi police station was informed about the incident.

CSP O P Srivastava and other cops reached the spot and arrested the accused and got the victim released. Police recorded the statement of victim girl and registered complaint against accused Balkrishna Joshi, his wife Angurbai Joshi and his son Arjun Joshi under Sections 344, 376 ( 2), 506 and 34 of IPC. After the girl went missing on December 12, her parents filed a complaint of missing in police station. Police interrogated a youth Arun of the same locality after they received information about the affair of the girl with the boy. Local residents gheroaed police station and demanded arrest of the accused and for taking strict action against him.
