Ujjain : Senior citizens, honourary members and other dignified persons of the society shared their valuable suggestions for better management of royal procession of Lord Mahakal, at Mahakal Pravachan Hall here on Wednesday. Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) sought suggestions from people for successful conduction of the procession. It was suggested that law and tradition should be followed for taking out the procession.

One of the honourary members advised to declare two km area around the Mahakaleshwar Temple as sacred territory. Earlier, it was demanded to declare three km of area as sacred territory, but it should be only two km. Another suggestion was that review meeting should be organised after conduction of each procession. It will help to overcome the issues faced in the previous procession. The same loopholes will not be repeated. Earlier it was done. MTMC accepted the suggestion and ensured their follow up.

Other suggestion include that tradition of the temple should not be ignored and they should be given due respect. There should have some rules and regulations for the procession and darshan arrangement to maintain law and order. Another honourary member told that 500 meter area should be kept reserved only for pedestrians on the day of procession. All the members agreed to put a ban on playing of DJ in the procession. The agenda for the meeting included internal and outer management, procession, etc.

Meetings will be organised to ensure crowd control at the time of worship at temple premises and Sabha Mandap, invitation to divisional commissioner for worship, Bhajan Mandli, band party, publicity committee and route decoration committee. Collector Kavindra Kiyawat said that all the suggestions would be considered to ensure smooth darshan to devotees during the royal procession.

COLLECTOR FACES PROTEST

Collector Kavindra Kiyawat had to face the protest of senior members including Satya Narayan Pawar (former Member of Parliament) and Jiyalal Sharma (lawyer) as he said that the passes issued to honourary officers and permanent bhasmaarti darshanarthis will be treated expired after a fixed date. The Collector was of the view that grabbing such VIP passes has become a tendency of status symbol and need was to come out of such syndrome. He also mentioned that such pass holders use to remain absent in the temple or during the processions, but always try to overpower the things at the time of duty. He said that pass system will be discontinued and new system will be developed after inviting the suggestions within a week. Pawar took strong objection on Kiyawat’s observations and said that the honourary officers perform service as a mark of devotion and the administration should better tighten the noose of those who have been employed for the service in the temple. Sharma also said that honourary officers do service and words like duty should be detached from them.
