Ujjain : Juna Akhada has initiated the efforts for a greener and cleaner Simhastha fair and will also spread the message of the same, during the fair. The issue was discussed in the core committee meeting of the Akhada.
The core committee meeting of the Juna Akhada was held here on Friday, although the meeting was adjourned in middle of the proceedings as the members had to leave for land inspection. However, the meeting during the proceeding passed the important resolutions regarding the Simhastha Fair. According to Akhada spokesperson, the seers dwelled upon the issues of environmental issue, but before that a 5 minute silence was observed to pay homage to the victims of earthquake at Pakistan. The meeting decided that the State government will be requested not to chop down the old trees for Simhastha works, instead try to re-root them beside the banks of Kshipra and whole fair area, using the new techniques and machinery.
General Secretary Swami Hari Giriji proposed that, the Simhastha fair will be held during the scorching month of May and the trees are only thing that will provide cool shade and fresh air, so the environment conservation is necessary. They said the fair authorities will be asked to sketch out a plan so that the sewage of the fair can be converted into bio fertiliser, by collecting it at single place. On the other the sadhus said that they will request the government to permanently acquisition the fair land, so that encroachment does not occur. Other than this, they also proposed that the Kartik Mela is not being given enough importance and it needs to be held in much more grand manner.
