Thanks to the pussy- footing of the Central Government and lack of farsightedness on the part of the state government, a senior IAS officer S R Mohanty is getting salary for the last two months without doing
Mohanty was removed from the post of health secretary on June 25, 2011 and posted as officer on special duty ( OSD) in the Mantralaya, relieving him of all works. In the last two months, he has been paid around Rs 2 lacs as salary for no work.
After the Supreme Court rejecting Mohanty neither punished, nor let off the hook Mohantys appeal in ICD scam, the state government, as per directives of the court, has asked the Centre to present charge- sheet against him. Certain officers and influential politicians have got this matter suppressed at the Centre and the state government has become helpless in taking action against Mohanty. As far as the state government is concerned, it is neither in a position to take action against Mohanty nor give any relief to him.
On the contrary, the government, which doesnalt39t tire of talking of austerity measures, has to shell out a significant sum of money as salary to Mohanty. According to sources, Mohanty has stopped sitting in Mantralaya for the whole time as he has no work.
