IG chairs meeting of police officials; imparts four- point formula to curb crime

Ujjain:A sudden spurt in crime has brought sleepless nights not only for citizens but also for senior police authorities as well. Perturbed with day to day chain snatching and theft incidents, IG Upendra Jain summoned an emergency meeting of Ujjain city police officials here on Sunday and took them cross handedly. He also gave a four- point formula to subordinate officials to curb such incidents. Notably, crime rate seems to be increasing in the city due to lackadaisical approach of police these days.

IG chairs meeting of police officials; imparts four- point formula to curb crime

Incidents of chain snatching are at the top of crime list. City women are afraid of going out of their houses and do not like to wear gold ornaments. According to sources, total 21 incidents of chain snatching have been reported in the city. Increasing number of chain snatching is a major concern and that is why an important meeting was called by IG to discuss the steps to put a check on increasing number of chain snatching incidents. IG Upendra Jain said there should be a strong management of police force for better results.

Generally, it is seen that low rank officials perform their duty and idle policemen rest in the police stations. The police administration has sufficient staff and force, yet criminals are far away. Every policeman should be deployed for patrolling. Second thing is there should be proper performance assessment of force when they are given some tasks. Duty of policemen should be shifted within a week and fortnight for better results. Third point that the IG mentioned was that CSPs/ ASPs and SP should also practise regular monitoring of their junior subordinates.

The last point the IG made was that Cheetah parties are comprised of particular policemen and they seem busy in recovery and other things. Party members should be changed within every week or fortnight. DIG Shriniwas Verma, SP Rakesh Gupta, CSPs and TIs of city police stations were present during the meeting. Talking to Free Press IG Jain informed that a gang of chain snatchers is active in the city and frequently carry out the crime acts. Police administration did not get a big success in nabbing chain snatchers, but they will be grabbed soon.

Theft incidents are common in winter as people go for marriage ceremony and thieves have opportunity to act. Information system of police administration seems to be weak these days as tip- offs are not received for nabbing the criminals, added IG. Police admn fully equipped

The city police seem to be fully equipped with different kinds of accessories which they require for nabbing criminals. Sufficient police force is also available. There are nine police control room vans which always seem to be roaming around the city. Even each police station has separate police van and two wheelers. Wireless system is quite sound for sharing information from the last corner of the city.

Police gear up in evening

After the meeting held at police control room, entire police administration seemed quite charged and police force was seen deployed at city squares and streets. Policemen were seen vigilant over every movement around them.
