I am fed-up over the phone calls to leave the cattle, says Mayor

Ujjain : The issue of stray cattle menace once again dominated the proceedings of the Peace Committee, which was convened for the peaceful accomplishment of Navratri, Dussehra, Moharrem, etc, festivals at Police Control Room, here on Wednesday evening.

Presided over by the Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, the meeting lasted for about 90 minutes. About 15 members including peoples’ representatives, politicians and social workers put forward their views, observations and suggestions; but, the key issue which was highlighted by most of them related to the unchecked day-to-day menace of the stray cattle. Interfering in the discussion, the newly-elected Mayor Meena Jonwal said, “I am fed-up over the un-ended phone calls as a number of influential persons use to exert pressure on me to free the stray cattle soon after these cattle are caught by the municipal gangs.

Mayor called upon the members to suggest her how to ensure effective restrictions on such menace. Members with the vote of voice seconded her efforts and asked her not to bow under anybody’s pressure. Kiyawat also seconded Jonwal and suggested the Municipal Corporation to display the names of those persons who use to exert pressure on the political and administrative executive during the drives on the notice-board of the Municipal Corporation. Issues like recovery of illegal money in the name of parking arrangements, security of the pandals of Durga idols, unchecked DJ sounds and spread of Swine flu were also raised.

Those who made vocal submissions during the meeting included Roop Pamnani, Rajendra Bharati, Mohan Yadav, Mahendra Singh Bains, Dwarkadhish Chaudhari, Surendra Chaturvedi, Virendra Singh Sisodia, Shiva Kotwani, Banne Miyan Nagori, Shamim Ahmed, Khaliqurrehman, Shakti Singh Chaudhari, Soni Mehar, Rajani Kotwani, Shobha Chhaniwal, Anil Chandel, Ramlal Malviya, Rameshwar Patel, Kishore Khandelwal, Vinod Chaurasiya, Yogesh Vyas and Dinesh Pujari. SP Manohar Verma also expressed views in the meeting. Simhastha Fair Authority chairman Diwakar Natu and Mahant Rameshwardas were also present.
