Ujjain : Some unidentified miscreants tried to deface the deity of a Hanuman Temple at Bambakhana area on Monday. Tension gripped the area following the incident. Temple priest who found the defaced idol, informed police about the entire matter. Heavy police force was deployed around the temple. Senior police officials visited the spot and beefed up the security, citing possible untoward incidents. The incident occurred at the Hanuman temple near Balwat Bheru. According to police, some miscreants defaced the idol with mud on Sunday night. The devotees staged a protest but were soon calmed down by the police. The police suspected the incident was a deliberate act to create communal tension. Calm was restored after the higher police officials met with the temple authorities. Police investigations are on and the miscreants are yet to be identified.
