High voltage drama at VU

Ujjain: A high voltage drama was witnessed during the protest organised by different students unions at Vikram University ( VU) campus here on Thursday.

Whole incident follows around strike, protest, an alleged suicide attempt and exchanging of blows between activists and varsity staff.

Thursday morning was certainly a good morning for varsity as the duty hours started the class III and class IV varsity employees started a pen down strike regarding transparency in compassionate appointments.

The employees alleged that working in their arbitrary manner is once again going to cost the poor employee section.

The striking employees alleged that out of 7 compassionate appointments 3 have been almost appointed by officials in backdoor entry.

At the same time activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ( ABVP) reached the varsity premises for submitting a memorandum regarding their demands of action against discrepancies in valuation of M Sc examinations.

Protest lead by State joint- secretary Sushil Wadiya and Nitin Bijapari reached to Vice- Chancellor’s chamber where the activists started raising slogans and started to read out their memorandum to Vice- Chancellor JL Kaul.

In the mean time a girl student, Lakshmi Tiwari had reached university 5th for her mark sheet but was unable to retrieve this time too as the staff were busy in their own strike. Upset over the behavior of the staff the girl reached terrace of academic building and threatened to jump off the building her demands were not met quickly.

While by this time National Students Union of India ( NSUI) activists led by Pritesh Sharma and Prateek Jain had also reached the spot. The attempt by the girl enraged activists of both unions who shared the stage for some time.

It was learnt that activists of one party rescued the girl while another party moved toward the office of Vice- Chancellor JL Kaul and ransacked his nameplate and office doors. Blows were also exchanged between the activists and staff. It was learnt that examination controller Dr Gangele ran for his life into VC chambers as whole incident was redirected to him.

Later Madhav Nagar police reached the spot and controlled the situation.
