Matters related to Mahakal Mandir

Ujjain: A double bench of the Indore High Court on Monday stayed the proceedings on the order passed by the single bench judge NK Mody ( now retired) regarding restructuring of the Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee ( MTMC) and providing monthly salary to the priests.

Justice Mody had on December 4, 2013 passed an order on the writ petition ( 10712/ 13) filed by one Sarika Pande and thereby directed for the restructuring of the MTMC and also to appoint two full- time non- official administrators.Apart from it, directives were also issued to fix monthly salary of the priests instead of providing them a chunk of money on the donations.

Some priests and the MTMC had challenged the order of justice Mody on various grounds and after hearing all the concerned parties, the double bench comprising justice Shantanu Kemkar and JK Maheshwari had on January 15 reserved their judgment. On Monday they pronounced the judgment and directed to stay the single bench order.
