Ujjain : The Indore High Court (HC) on Tuesday reserved its order with regard to granting a stay on the final electoral rolls published in view of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation elections.
During over one hour proceedings on Tuesday afternoon, the petitioner’s counsels Ashok Kutumbale, Ashok Garg and Lokesh Bhatnagar made various arguments before the double bench comprising justice PK Jaiswal and JK Jain. The counsels argued that the published electoral rolls were not according to the Census-2011.
On the other hand, Additional Advocate General Sunil Jain argued that the electoral rolls do not have any discrepancies and the delimitation of the wards could not be carried out in wake of shortage of time. He also cited certain rulings of the MPHC and Supreme Court in the case.
Bakirali Rangwala, president of Manthan Parmarthik Sanstha (MPS), who had challenged the election process on the grounds of alleged faults in the delimitation of wards and number of dis-similarity of electorates in 54 wards, said that the HC is likely to deliver its order soon.
