Ujjain : Government agencies have been spending crores of rupees in different development projects at Mahkaleshwar temple but not a single penny is spent till now for the maintenance of gold plated Shikhars of the temple.

Two days ago ring of one of the Shikhars broke down and was found lying down at the open space near Naagchandrehwar temple. Ring is used to tighten the gold plates to stabilize it over the Shikhar as entire top structure of the temple is made up of limestone. When temple administrator RP Tiwari was contacted he was found unaware from the entire issue and said that soon maintenance work of the Shikhars along with the gold Kirans will be started.

Temple administration is only busy in the beautification work of the temple but not taking any step to repair the broken Shikhars. Several gold plated Shikhars are in urgent need of the maintenance because every morning and evening hundreds of birds sit over the structure and their beats adversely affects the gold plates.
