Ujjain: BJP candidate from Ujjain ( South) Mohan Yadav landed in trouble by distributing money among voters during election campaigning on Saturday. Congress leader Manjur Qureshi made a complaint against the BJP candidate to district election officer BM Sharma.
BJP candidate Mohan Yadav on Saturday at campaigned Desai Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Lakshmi Nagar localities. adav received blessings from citizens and while young girls and women performed aarti of Yadav and he placed notes of Rs 10, 20 and 50 in their plates. According to Yadav’s supporters, Yadav did not give money to entice voters while it was a part of Indian culture. “ According to our culture, whenever a woman performs aarti of someone, the person has to give something to her as a mark of respect.
Yadav did the same and it was not a violation of Model Code of Conduct,” the supporters said. However, Congress party got a chance to nail the BJP candidate over this issue.Congress leader Manjur Qureshi immediately made a complaint against Yadav before the collector. Congress party demanded Sharma to declare the BJP candidate ineligible.
According to Congress leader Chhotelal Parihar, BJP candidate from Ujjain South violated the norms of Code of Conduct by distributing cash among voters openly. To give money to voters during election comes under the category of crime. The Congress demanded strict and immediate action against Yadav.
