Armed Force Flag Day celebrated

Ujjain: Armed Force Flag Day was celebrated during a programme at district soldiers’ welfare office in the city on Wednesday. Convener Ramkumar Kalyan pinned armed force flag on Divisional Commissioner KC Gupta and received donation from him.

The fund collected with the sale of armed force flags will be utilised for the welfare of the widows, dependents and economically poor soldiers.

According to district soldiers welfare office convener Ramkumar Kalyan, there is no fixed price of token and flag of armed force. Government of Madhya Pradesh gave a target to Ujjain district for collecting a fund of Rs 6 lakh. To fulfill the demand, token and car flag is sold at the rate of Rs 5 and 10 respectively.

Anybody can purchase them and can donate more money for welfare of soldiers. After selling the armed force flags and tokens, the fund can be sent through the drafts made in favour of SBI Madhav Nagar at account number 10441211416 till March 31, 2014. Anybody can deposit the money directly in the bank account.

Kalyan also informed that the glorious history of Indian armed force is full of tales of great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Armed force always showed their valour during war and peace in both the situations. Armed force day gives an opportunity to show our integrity towards brave soldiers.

Likewise, NCC unit of Government Madhav College also observed Armed Force Flag day by collecting fund for welfare of soldiers on Wednesday. Principal Dr LN Verma addressed on this occasion. A fund of Rs 2600 was collected by College staff and the fund was handed over to Collector BM Sharma. NCC officer Dr Mohan Nimole, Dr BS Makkad, Dr Arun Verma, Dr Zafar Mehmood and others were present on this occasion.
