Ujjain : Impact of snowfall in northern part of the country was seen clearly in the city on Monday as denizens were seen wrapped in winter clothes during whole day.
Sudden rainfall on Monday afternoon changed the entire weather of the city and during night time several people were seen huddled around the bonfire. Maximum temperature of the day was recorded as 27 degree Celsius while minimum temperature was recorded as 14 degree Celsius. However, minimum temperature saw the jump of 2.5 degrees, but freezing cold blowing at the speed of 6 km/hr from north kept denizens wrapped in woollen clothes.
Around 15 mm of rainfall during the day was recorded by local weatherman and predicated that rain could continue 2–3 days more. Rain was continuing to lash the city till the report was filed. Monday’s rainfall also exposed preparedness of the MEPB to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. Smooth power supply arrangements were hit frequently in the night hours. Marriage reception ceremonies were also witnessed disruptions.
Though, the sudden change in the atmospheric conditions threw the normal life out of gear, it was like a boon for the standing crop. As the farmers were waiting third source of watering for the crops, the Monday’s Mavtha was like Amrit (nectar) for them. It will not only increase the water level of different water bodies, but will also increase the underground water table.
