Ujjain : Collector Kavindra Kiyawat on Saturday directed to serve the show cause notice on two engineers for alleged dereliction of duty. During an inspection of the Simhastha Fair related development works to see the progress of works, he found two assistant engineers and two deputy engineers without the ‘M’ book (measurement book) on hand and had crossed their time limit to complete the construction works. PWD engineers use the book to record the progress of work. A new parking lot has been proposed at the vacant land near the Rudra Sagar and Begumbag.

Collector Kiyawat was on physical verification visit to the various Simhastha related works in the city, where he overlooked the development works being executed by Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and Public Works Department (PWD). The engineers which were served show cause notice for dereliction of duty include two deputy engineers and two assistant engineers identified as Jaswinder Singh Bhullar, Shyam Tripathi, Avinash Soni and Karanvir Singh. According to sources the collector lost his cool after the M book showed by the engineers contained no latest entries and the last entry was made in April. Also the under construction housing scheme at the Revenue Colony and Damdama area was found substandard. Also the roof work was scheduled to be finished in the month of May, which was yet to start in month of June.

Further, the collector directed the official to remove encroachment from both sides of Vakankar Bridge within five day. Reportedly many auto repair shops and garages have encroached uopne both sides of the bridge up to the Sawarakhedi approach Road. The garage owner after seeing the stringent attitude of the administration asked for five days’ time to remove their belongings themselves, if they fail to do so, the corporation will clear the area. Similar was found to be the condition at the Harifatak Bridge, where illegal shanties and heaps of construction material have encroached upon both sides of the bridge. Here too Collector directed the officials to remove the encroachers and make the approach road smooth using concrete. Kiyawat on his inspection of the Chintaman-Hasampura link road asked the road side vendors to vacate the area, as due to the encroachment only half of the road has been constructed and work has been stopped due to noncooperation of the encroachers. The collector asked the encroachers to remove their paraphernalia themselves or they will be in loss, once the official machinery comes in action. Over which the residents responded promptly and agreed to remove their belongings as soon as the works starts. Collector Kiyawat also visited developmental works at the Naagjhiri, Chaardham temple, Harsiddhi temple and Mangalnath temple.
