Food dept team raids city eateries and restaurants

Ujjain: Team of food department raided city eateries and restaurants here on Wednesday. Food samples were collected while challans were issued to impose fine on restaurant owners for not keeping surroundings hygienic.

Under the leadership of city magistrate Shyamendra Jaiswal, the team raided Lala Shri Restaurant at Koyala Fatak Square in front of Prakash Petrol Pump. It found the surroundings of unhygienic. Even, cockroaches were seen in the store room of the restaurant. Eatables were kept in unclean surroundings.

Challan was made on restaurant owner Sanjay Gupta. Collector BM Sharma had issued notices to Jaiswal for carrying out raid on city eateries and restaurants ahead of Mahashivratri festival. The food department collected mawa samples from Bafna Namkin and sent them to Bhopal for testing. Food inspectors Deepa Tatwal and Varsha Vyas were present during the inspection.
