Admn bans nylon thread; issues directives during Peace Committee meeting

Ujjain: District administration has imposed a ban on nylon thread being used to fly kites on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Administration also issued directives to make tight security arrangements during procession of Milad- un- nabi by Muslim and Bohra community on January 13 and 14.

Collector BM Sharma and SP Anurag Kumar chaired the Peace Committee meeting on Friday in the presence of committee members. It was decided that nylon thread will be banned to use for flying kites on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Collector Sharma issued directives to the officials concerned for managing arrangements on the route of procession. Ujjain Municipal Corporation was asked to manage sanitation, water and other arrangements. DISCOM was directed to supply constant power during the procession of Milad- un- nabi. Heath department was asked to open all dispensaries located on the procession route.

Sharma also issued directives to officials for managing sanitary arrangements at Ramghat and other piers for devotees as there would be holy bath in Kshipra on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Peace committee members asked Collector to put a ban on kite flying activities on the traffic routes on Makar Sankranti to avoid any mishap. Collector also informed that community people should seek permission for holding other programmes and events from admission as Section 144 is effective in city. SP Anurag sought cooperation from Peace Committee members to maintain peace and law and order in the city.
