Municipality Day celebrated

Daman Daman Municipality celebrated its 399th Municipality Day on Wednesday. Programme commenced with the flag hosting by Daman Municipality president Jignesh Tandel.Councillor Anil Tandel, Saukat Mithani, Simple Kathela, chief officer B. P. Singh, engineer Pravin Rana and whole municipality staff were present.

Jignesh Tandel told FPJ that Daman Municipality was established in 1613 during Portuguese rule and it is Asia’s oldest municipality.Tourists come to visit this municipality from various countries and states of our country too. Jignesh further added that today is municipality worker’s day and we celebrate this day to encourage our co- workers. Whole staff is being rewarded and this stage is for all workers.Anyone can come upon openly and share their feelings.

Jignesh appealed to all staff members to unite and work together and achieve their target. Daman Municipality Vice President Anil Tandel asked people to celebrate 400th year next year as state level occasion.

Engineer arrested for killing wife

Thane: The postmortem report of the woman who died in mysterious circumstances in Vasant Vihar has nailed the lie of her husband that she had committed suicide. The report says that the woman was strangulated to death as there were visible marks of throttling.According to Vartaknagar police, the incident took place at flat number 404, Shami Building, at Vasant Vihar in Thane.Sushama Dalvi, 24, and Siddhesh Dalvi, 24, a civil engineer working at a private company in Powai, fell in love and married on December 6, 2010.

Siddhesh told the police that Sushama was at home when he left for some work on Monday. On returning, he found the door locked from inside. When she did not open the door, he used his keys to open it. Inside, he found Sushama lying dead with a T- shirt around her neck. He told police that Sushama possibly hung herself from the ceiling fan.However, police did not find any evidence that Sushama had hung herself from the ceiling fan, so they did not believe Siddhesh’s version. They grilled Siddhesh for the truth and got irrelevant answers from him.
