Ujjain:Farmerswho carried their grains to Krishi UpajMandi on Monday resorted to road blockade at Agar Road in protest of declaring their crops invalid by Mandi traders. Farmers raised their voice against Food Security Ordinance being imposed by Government on agricultural crops.
Krishi UpajMandi traders declared the crops brought by farmers invalid here on Monday. Traders did not purchase crops from the farmers. Government is going to enforce Food Security Act in Krishi Upaj Mandi from February 5, 2014. Mandi traders made protest against the imposition of the act and did not purchase grains fromfarmers. Agitated farmers resorted road blockade in front of Krishi Upaj Mandi at 2.45 pm on Monday. They raised slogans against the haphazard enforcement of the act.
CSP OP Shrivastava reached at the spot and took the situation under control.Even after the farmers were pacified, they did not end their protest and kept raising slogans. Commuters faced inconvenience due to the blockade on the road.City Magistrate Meena Mishra arrived at the venue and pacified Kisan Sangh leader Bharat Singh Bains to call of the protest.
