Ujjain: Forest Department and Sapt Sagar Vikas Mandal jointly organised a talent felicitation and environment conservation programme to mark World Environment Day. Essay writing and drawing competition were organized under junior and senior age group. Municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot gave away prizes of 100 participants. Forest ranger Shiv Awasthi welcomed guests while District Forest Officer Padampriya Balakrishnan chaired the programme. Kishore Kumar Bhati conducted the programme. Forest officer Udayraj Panwar proposed the vote of thanks.

Likewise, Pollution Control Board regional office organised environment week to mark World Environment Day under the direction of board chairman Dr NP Shukla. Several programmes including street plays, drawing, debate, plantation, rally, vehicle monitoring, site exhibition, symposium, etc were organized during the week. Regional officer PK Trivedi informed that a public awareness campaign was launched at Mahakaleshwar Temple premises on June 7.

Former chairman Dr PS Dubey was chief guest of the programme. Measures to reduce pollution in Kshipra river were discussed during the programme. Prajapita Brahmakumari Divine University city unit organised a symposium titled ‘I and Environment’ under environment awareness campaign at Rishi Nagar located centre on Sunday.

Key speaker Brahmakumari Ambika Behan in her address said that environment is not only trees and nature but also the living and nonliving surroundings and it is our duty to prevent this from being polluted. The reason behind all kind of pollution is the mental pollution which is breeding in human mind. It is needed that one should purify his thoughts.
