The Kashimira police have arrested two people who kidnapped and killed their close friend, to pay off a loan, they availed from his father. According to the police, Ganesh Sreeram ( 20), a native of Boisar w
as a S Y B Com, student of Thakur College in Kandivali and stayed at a rented accommodation in Kashimira.
Ganeshs father Ramchandra, who is small- time construction contractor was shocked when he received a call on Monday, claiming that his son had been abducted, the unidentified caller demanded Rs 8 lakh for his release.
Suspecting that his sons life was in danger, Ramchandra rushed to Kashimira and informed the local police about his sons mysterious disappearance and the ransom call he received from kidnappers.
Surveillance was mounted on the suspects and as a tactic to engage the kidnappers with negotiations, the ransom amount was scaled down to Rs 3 lakh. However, the kidnappers tried to outwit the cops by changing venues to collect the ransom.
Finally, the two of them were nabbed from Kandivali, when they came to collect the money. Ramchandra was left stumped when the arrested duo turned out to be Kalpesh Saroj and Ravindra Kumar Yadav, close friends of his abducted son. During sustained interrogations, the duo confessed that they had bludgeoned Ganesh to death and dumped his body in the Naigaon creek.
Further investigations revealed that the prime accused, Kalpesh, had availed a loan of Rs 1 lakh from the father of the deceased and was under intense pressure to repay the amount. ” He along with Yadav hatched a plot to kidnap Ganesh and demand a huge ransom amount from his father, repay the debts and pocket the rest of the money.
They apparently killed Ganesh, as if he was left alive he would spell the beans and they would be in trouble.” said Senior PI Anil Patil.
