Ujjain : District Magistrate Kavindra Kiyawat on Thursday visited the flood affected industrial area located on Maksi Road and wrote to senior officials to acknowledge them about the problems prevailed there. Members of the Industrial Union had a meeting with Kiyawat informing him about the problems prevailed in the area.
Recently held excessive rainfall in the city caused water logging in the industrial area located on Maksi Road. Water logging in the industrial zone has caused power cut turning the industrial unit on standstill. Kiyawat immediately called a meeting with District Industry Center, DISCOM and PWD officials to resolve the problems. Kiyawat inspected the industrial zone and found that four residential localities are situation around the zone. Water from these localities entered into the industrial area. Water is passed through the drains situated on either side of MR-10 road, which passes through the zone, but the drains have been chocked by the soil. Even the joints of the drains have not been connected properly. On the excessive rainfall, water got deposited in mass amount and does not get exit-causing flood in the industrial area.
Kiyawat visited the entire area and found various loopholes in road construction and other projects taken up in the area. Even it was found that there was no fixed outline of transformer and power supply to ensure electricity in the industrial area. Industrialists were present with Kiyawat during the inspection. They said that it was the condition of the area, which paid revenue of Rs 100 crore to Ujjain Municipal Corporation.
They demanded solutions for their problems. One of the rice merchants said that the floodwater had damaged 25 tons of rice stored in his godowns. Taking cognizance over the problems narrated by the industrialists, Kiyawat immediately wrote to senior officials in Bhopal. Principal Secretaries of Industry and Commerce, PWD and DISCOM were informed about the issues. UMC, PWD and Industry departments were directed to flush out the water logged in the area.
