According to police, Kalpesh Ghoti, son of Chhatar Singh Ghoti, 18, resident of Sajankhedi, Banswada, Rajasthan, had taken admission in first semester of MBBS at RD Medical College recently.

Kalpesh consumed poison at his hostel room on late Saturday night. He was rushed to the Medical College, where he breathed his last during the treatment.

Kalpesh’s father, who is a teacher by profession, had deposited the fee for MBBS by taking a loan. He broke into tears when he was informed about the incident.

Kalpesh called his senior Jaideep, resident of Dahod, after consuming poison and informed about his act. Jaideep gathered his friends and reached Kalpesh’s room, where he was found lying unconscious. They immediately rushed him to the hospital.

It is said that Kalpesh was depressed and was feeling homesick. His family had come here to see him off few days back. Kalpesh also went to his village in Rajasthan to celebrate Raksha Bandhan and returned back to Ujjain on August 22. Kalpesh’s father denied any ragging claims. His parents took the dead body for funeral after the post- mortem. ASP Gourav Tiwari told that the case has been registered and no complaint regarding ragging has been filed as yet.
