Ujjain : Several markets in the city were full of hustle and bustle on the eve of the festival of lights. Residents could be seen making last-minute purchases and gearing up for Deepawali.
Lights and sparkling decorative items decked up the city as residents flocked markets for purchases. Some of them were buying new things for their homes. Meanwhile, the markets were abuzz in the evening. Several showrooms such as electronics stores, fashion outlets, sweets outlets, home decor, gadgets and fashion accessories stores saw a huge rush of shoppers.
Shopkeepers were seen busy selling items to the customers who came along with their families to buy buntings, colourful lights and fire-crackers. It was not only the market, but also the temples in and around the city that were decorated with full religious fervour to celebrate Deepawali.
Shopkeepers, both small and big, and other business houses, were trying to rake in the cash by providing customers all sorts of offers and discounts, which is largely the norm before the festival. The major markets in the city like Freeganj, Shahid Park, Tower Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Sarafa, Kanthal and other places were in full bloom.
