Ujjain : What starts as a freshwater source in Kakri Bardi hills of Dhar district becomes an eyesore when it reaches the outskirts of the holy city.
In the last three decades, committees were formed, studies made and to restore the Kshipra to its original glory. But, a Kshipra without sewage still remains a distant dream. A landmark of the city, the waterway mixes with Khan River at the Triveni Sangam, and her demise starts here. Other than this11 nullahs which were once sacred rivers have become terminators for the river. Even the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) in its study claimed that 75 percent domestic and 25 percent industrial waste is responsible for the pollution of Kshipra.
