Ujjain : The State government suspended deputy-director, agriculture (DDA), AK Nema posted in Ujjain. There were serious allegations of irregularities against Nema. The senior official was suspended in for alleged embezzling more than Rs 16 crore from a government scheme, sources said on Wednesday.
Dr Rajesh Rajora, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, suspended Nema for negligence, non-performance and committing irregularities in the implementation of various schemes of sprinkler, seeds distribution and grain storage facilties. The DDA spent 2 crores extra in the sprinkler scheme of year 2011-12 which in turn sabotaged the whole calculated budget.
He also did not follow the given instructions for implementation of the programmes in spite of series of communications. Earlier, the State government had made clear that any laxity on this account would not be tolerated at any level and none found guilty would go scot-free. He was facing charges of misappropriation of funds and misuse of official position in the hospital.
The decision was taken after considering all the allegations and gathering sufficient evidence It was alleged that during his tenure last six years, he misappropriated and diverted the government funds of about Rs 16 crores from the government accounts.
A five member team has been constituted by the government to probe the allegations against Nema. Member of Parliament’s representative, Chandra Vijay Singh Chauhan had a vital role in collecting all the previous complaints and information against the DDA after which MP Chintamani Malviya took the cognizance of the matter and informed the government about it.
