Ujjain: District Congress Committee (DCC) minority department president Maqsood Ali who supported an independent candidate contesting election for corporator in by-elections at ward-32 of Ujjain Municipal Corporation was axed from the party for six years. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Minority Department State president Mohammad Salim immediately issued orders for termination of all district units. Former secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee Sultan Shah Lala and Maqsood Ali indulged in heated arguments over the issue during a feast organised by the Muslim community at Bhairavgarh on Sunday.
Maqsood Ali had lodged a complaint with Bhairavgarh police against Sultan Lala as he had issued life threat to Ali. Taking cognizance into the matter, District Congress Committee president Anantnarayan Meena chaired a meeting and sacked Ali from the party for six years on Monday. A delegation of senior Congress leaders met city SP Anurag Kumar at police control room before the meeting and demanded fair investigation in the false complaint lodged by Maqsood Ali against senior Congress leader Sultan Shah Lala.
Maqsood Ali in a press release informed that DCC president had terminated him from the party for six years without any prior notice. Ali added that DCC president should study the bylaws of the party and should take action accordingly. Entire minority community will protest against this action. DCC president does not have the right to terminate any office-bearer. Ali warned that effigies of Manohar Bairagi and Sultan Shah Lala will be burnt across the city in protest of this unjust decision. In case of his murder or any mishap with him, Congress leader Sultan Lala and Manohar Bairagi should be considered responsible.
