Ujjain : A middle aged couple was crushed to death by a speeding car at Bima Square, Agar Road, here on the early morning of Tuesday.

Accident occurred when one Vijay Jain (55) along with his wife Chandanbala Jain (52) was going to their home located at Sandipani Nagar near Dhancha Bhawan after paying obeisance to Jain temple situated in Fazalpura area. When couple reached at Bima Square and was turning towards Dhancha Bhawan by their Activa (MP 13 DP 5087), a speeding car (RJ 09 CA 6529) rammed the two-wheeler of the couple. As per the account of an eyewitness, accident was so horrific that car dragged the couple to few meters on the road and then driver of the car turned towards Chamunda Mata Square and fled away from the scene.

Due to impact of the accident, bumper of the car was torn-off and number plate fell at the place and two-wheeler also got completely crushed in the accident. Skulls of the duo got fractured in the mishap and both succumbed to their injuries before ambulance arrived at the spot, due to excessive flow of blood. Deceased Vijay Jain was not wearing helmet while riding his two-wheeler otherwise he could have been saved in the accident.

According to Ritesh Jain, his uncle Vijay Jain and aunty Chandanbala Jain was daily visitor of the temple from last 15 years and had gone as per their daily routine on Tuesday also to the temple. And he used to open his grocery shop, ‘Nakoda Traders’ only after paying obeisance in the temple, he added. Investigation officer, Vikram Singh informed Free Press that case under Section 304-A of IPC has been registered against the driver of the car and hunt of accused driver has been launched by Chimanganj Mandi police.
