Ahead of Independence Day on Monday, the Mumbai Police have undertaken a combing operation in the city in a bid to provide fullproof security on the D- day.
The leaves of policemen have been cancelled f
or the weekend and the zonal Deputy Commissioners and Additional Commissioners have a plan in place on deployment of security personnel, on Sunday onwards.
The security has been beefed up at all important places in the city.
Strong apprehensions of security threat on occasions like the Independence Day or Republic Day, city police are leaving no stone unturned to secure the city against terror attacks.
Nisar Tamboli, DCP ( Crime) said, ” All places including the hotels and lodges are being combed to check for anything suspicious.
No random parking of vehicles at parking lots, especially those near religious shrines, would be allowed.
Strict action would be taken against those who would not cooperate.” The officials stated that a force of 40,000 policemen including those of Local Arms division would be out on the streets on Monday, with leaves of all officers getting cancelled from Friday.
Policemen have already been deployed at many important junctions. However, zonal DCPs or Additional Commissioners will decide upon deployment of force in their region, Tamboli added, ” The combat forces like Quick Response Team, NSG and Force One would be on a stand by and would be summoned if required.” The officials stated that preventive arrests have also been made to avoid untoward incidents.
