Ujjain : Clean India Campaign will be launched in the district to mark birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Thursday. All government departments will participate in cleanliness campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Citizens are excited over the initiative taken by PM and they have pledged to be part of the campaign.
Officials and employees from all government departments will assemble at the main gate of Vikram University administrative block to participate in Clean India Campaign. Around 70 officials of the district have appointed nodal officer for the campaign. An oath will be administered to all participants for having commitment towards the campaign. The first phase will conclude on November 19. Peoples’ representatives, school and college students, non-government organisations, commercial and trade organisations, denizens and other groups will participate in the movement. Collector Kavindra Kiyawat has issued directives for the activities.
A public awareness drive will be conducted at urban localities while making interaction with public about personal hygiene, cleanliness at home, solid waste management, management of contaminated water area and other aspects. Mayor, presidents of Municipal Councils and corporators will lead the campaign at ward level. An extensive cleanliness campaign will be conducted between October 3 and 9 across the city. Public will be made aware about the diseases caused by unclean and unhygienic atmosphere while conducting cleanliness awareness camps at each ward.
School and college students will be made aware about cleanliness between October 10 and 17. International Hand Wash day will be observed at schools on October 15. Restaurant, hotel and tea kiosk owners will be encouraged to cover eatables at their establishments. All civic bodies will prepare a work plan to make city free from the tendency of doing toilets in open. Officials and employees of collectorate cleaned the offices on the directives of collector on Wednesday. Kiyawat visited different departments and reviewed the cleaning work. School Education Minister Paras Jain has appealed to citizens for participating in the campaign.
Likewise, Ujjain Cooperative Bank will also support Clean India Campaign led by Prime Minister Modi on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on Thursday. Bank office-bearers will clean Gaughat Jantar Mantar at 7 pm. Chairman Anil Singh Chandel informed that minister Paras Jain, bank vice-chairman SN Sharma, Gita Rami, board of directors, chief general manager SN Somani and others will be present. Maa Kshipra Divers Group will also conduct cleanliness campaign at Ramghat at 7 pm. BJP Slum Cell will clean the Dutt Akhara at 7 pm on Thursday. Mayor Rameshwar Akhand, Municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot and Municipal Commissioner Avinash Lavania made appeal to citizens to support cleanliness campaign and awareness rally to be taken out on Thursday. The rally will begin from Bada Ganesh Mahakal area and will pass through Kot Mohalla, Gudri Square, Patni Bazaar, Dhaba Road, Harsiddhi and will conclude at Mahakal temple.
