City gears up to celebrate Navratri festival

Ujjain : Nine-day Navratri festival will be celebrated in the city from Thursday. City temples of Goddess Durga, Garba Mandals and organizers have made all necessary preparations to celebrate the festival. Police has issued guidelines to all Garba Mandals to conclude Garba by 10.30 pm. Citizens appeared to be busy shopping in markets showing great enthusiasm for the festival.

Renowned temples of Goddess Durga inlcluding Harsiddhi, Chamunda Mata, Gadhkalika, Choubis Khamba and others have been decked up to celebrate the festival. Goddess Durga is the symbol of power and devotees remain on fast for nine-days. Garba Mandals are all set to host Garba at various venues in the city. Girls will perform traditional Garba at these mandals. Certain mandals are placed at public places while some are set in private premises. More than 100 Garba Mandals are being set up across the city to celebrate the occasion. Ghatsthapana will be done at all temples and Mandals on Thursday morning.

ASP Rajesh Vyas has directed all police station in-charges to issue guidelines to all Garba Mandal organizers to end Garba by 10.30 pm regularly during Navratri. Police will keep an eye over antisocial elements during the festival. Miscreants will be dealt strictly by cops. PCR vans will constantly vigil around the Garba mandals.

Shri Harsiddhi Bhakt Mandal is going to organise 40th Navratri Mahotsava from Thursday. Spokesperson Kamlesh Tambi and publicity secretary Santoshrao Jadhav informed that a Kalash Yatra would be taken out from Ramghat and Harsiddhi temple in the morning. Cultural programmes will be organised daily in the evening. Nagar Brahmin Community will celebrate 36th year of Navratri festival performing traditional Garba at Sharma Parisar at Dewas Road from Thursday evening. Nagar Brahmin Yuva Parishad president Sanjay Vyas and media in-charge Nilesh Nagar informed that idol of Durga will be installed at the venue along with worship and aarti.

Navrang Sanskritik Sanstha will organise Garba and cultural events at UMC Swimming Pool at Kothi Road from Thursday. Patron Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya and president Ram Bhagwat informed that more than 50 girls will give performances of Gujarati and Rajasthani Garba during Navrang Dandiya-2014. Garba will begin at 8 pm. Shailendra Vyas and Rashi Pateria will conduct the event.
