Ujjain : People who commute through Ujjain-Ratlam passenger-59318 got irked over change of train timing to 5.30 am from 7.15 am. Commuters staged a demonstration in front of the office of Station Manager at Ujjain Railway station on Sunday. They handed over memorandum to Member of Parliament Dr Chintamani Malviya and Divisional Railway Manager demanding the change in timing of the train.
Commuters narrating their plight informed that Western Railway has proposed new schedule to operate trains from September 1. According to the new schedule, Ujjain-Ratlam passenger train number 59318 which was conducted at 7.15 am from Ujjain railway station for Ratlam will be run at 5.30 am. The train will reach at Ratlam at 10 am taking 4 and half hours. The train will halt for two hours at Nagda station. The decision taken by Western Railway is totally illogical and it has put thousands commuters in trouble. At present, the train number 59318 takes 2.45 hours to reach at Ratlam departing at 7.15 am from Ujjain and reaching at Ratlam at 10 am. Now the train will take 4.30 hours to reach to Ratlam. Commuters also demanded that passenger train 59317 runs at 4.30 pm from Ratlam and it reaches to Ujjain station at 7.45 pm. The train halts for 45 minutes at Nagda station unnecessarily. The train should be operated at 5.30 pm from Ratlam station for the convenience of commuters.
