Ujjain : Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today went on a strike in view of their pending demands here on Thursday. They said their demands included revision in salaries, non-privatisation of department and other demands.
More than 200 employees of the BSNL Employees Union, including non-executive employees of the company participated in the strike. Policy making programme was the main cause behind the strike. The employees condemned the government over various other issues like outsourcing contract system and BSNL disinvestment. The call for the strike had been given by the Non Executive Committee in the BSNL.
Employees in the organisation are demanding immediate wage revision, five-year periodicity for wage revision and implementation of the promotion policy as agreed by the management of the BSNL.
Other demands include settlement of pay anomalies, revision of fitment formula and pay related demands. Meanwhile, the employees were on strike the customers had to face harrowing time as for many of them it was final date for bill submission. Likewise, the repair work of various broken cables also came to halt.
