Coming down heavily on the Congress- led UPA government, leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely said that there was alt145 depleting credibilityalt39of a government that was facing a serious

alt145 leadership crisisalt39. Jaitley was speaking at a function organized by the city unit of the BJP where he addressed the audience on the alt145 current political scenario in the countryalt39. Mumbai BJP President Raj Purohit and BJP spokesperson Atul Bhatkhalkar, along with Poonam Mahajan daughter of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan were present on the occasion.

Quoting the Economist, Jaitely said that Dr Manmohan Singh was a ‘Prime Minister in office but not in power’. While the BJP leader gave credit to the PM for initiating economic reforms in 1991, he said that looking at the current scenario it appeared that the alt145 economy was directionlessalt39with the government.

Criticising the slow pace of decision making in the UPA government, Jaitely said that the decision making in the government had paralyzed completely. Recalling the days of the NDA government, Jaitely said that while the thrust of their government was boosting infrastructure and connectivity, business climate had vitiated severely under the current government.

Accusing the government of scams and driving out investment, he sad that the ‘government had converted success stories into scandals.’On the current and crucial issue of inflation, Jaitely said that the government appears to have run out of ideas to deal with inflation. Jaitely also criticized the dynasty- based politics in the Congress, hinting at Congress scion Rahul Gandhi.
