Bank manager caught red- handed accepting Rs 8000 bribe

Ujjain: Lok Ayukta sleuths caught a bank manager red- handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 here on Tuesday morning. The manager had put a bank account on hold and demanded bribe for freeing the account.

According to Lok Ayukta police, Abhay Janardan Kale is a branch manager of Central Bank of India, Jahangirpur branch. Complainant Jyotirmay Vijayvergiya and his wife Smita have accounts in the branch. The bank had put the account of Smita Vijayvergiya on hold on September 17. Complainant Jyotirmay was unable to withdraw cash from the account.

He requested the manager to free the account several times. Kale demanded Rs 8000 to free the account. Vijayvergiya informed the Lok Ayukta about the issue.

The Lok Ayukta chalked out a plan and accordingly they sent Vijayvergiya to the house of Kale at Vivekanand Colony with the amount. As Vijayvergiya handed over him Rs 8000, the Lok Ayukta sleuths arrested him red- handed. Kale was later released on the bail. Vijayvergiya is a plant manager of Pratibha Infrastructure.

He opened accounts in Central Bank of India, Jahangirpur Branch for himself, his wife and company’s driver. Two accounts have amount of Rs 2 lakh in them. The bank put the account of Vijayvergiya’s wife on hold on September 17. The manager was building pressure on Vijayvergiya for bribe to free the account. The bank manager told that irregularities were found in the accounts of Vijayvergiya.

Hence the account was put on hold. Even documents were incorrect.He alleged Vijayvergiya for entrapping him in the matter with malice.Central Bank of India, Jahangirpur branch, Abhay Janardan Kale trapped by Lok Ayukta police in Ujjain on Tuesday.
