Ujjain: On the 10th day of cleansing drive initiated to clean Purshottam Sagar pond by Sapt Sagar Vikas Mandal, Anganbadi workers and assistants volunteered their services here on Tuesday. With the efforts of citizens, the ancient water body is regaining its natural beauty.
Convener Sonu Gehlot informed that the ancient water body has started appearing in its original form after volunteers removed silt, pollutants and debris prevailed around the pond. Sewage water stored in the pond has been poured out so that rainwater could enter into the pond. Volunteers from different organizations have been taking part in the cleansing drive daily between 8 to 11 am. The pond water has now become clean after shrubs were removed from it.
Ward number 2 Anganbadi workers and assistants Vinita Sharma, Tara Chaturvedi, Shanti Parmar, Kiran Rathore, Vimla Nagoria, Vandana Sharma and others were present in the drive. Sapt Sagar Vikas Mandal office bearers urged citizens to take part in the cleansing drive whole heartedly to conserve ancient water bodies of the city.
