Even on a holiday the residents of the city were not given a respite by the soaring heat on the third day of Nautapa on Sunday.

The maximum temperature was registered at 41 degree Celsius and the minimum wa

s 28 degree Celsius.

The heat wave began to sweep across the city just after the clock struck 11. As it was not a working day people mostly kept themselves indoors. The major roads of the city wore a deserted look after the heat wave intensified at noon. The heat wave continued to make life difficult for people till 5 in the evening.

The coolers and air conditioners were deployed full blast to get relief from the summer heat. However, though the latter proved useful, the former was not much effective. The commuters had a real tough time and were seen sweating in the humid conditions.

The summer also brought luck to some. A brisk business was made by the juice sellers throughout the day.

The demand for sugarcane juice increases during these days.

However, in the evening hours the people got a relief as the weather became a little bit pleasant. As per the information furnished by the met department, the denizens have to deal with similar conditions in the coming days and the temperature will fall in the range of 40- 42 and may even shoot up.
