Ujjain : Hundreds of agitated farmers with the functionaries of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) gave memorandum addressed to Collector Kavindra Kiyawat and demanded for lifting ban on usage of water of Sahebkhedi and Undasa Pond for irrigation purpose at Kothi Palace on Friday.

Farmers gave memorandum to Joint Collector Jayant Joshi as Collector was in Bhopal for the meeting of Simhastha Fair-2016. Hundreds of farmers of more than 12 villages including Bakaniya, Devalkhedi, Paarkhedi and Khanbadodiya others reached at Kothi Palace in form of massive rally and vociferously kept their demand of allowing them to use water of ponds before administrative officials. Convener of Economic Wing Cell (BKS), Pankaj Modi informed that administration has banned the usage of water of Undasa and Sahebkhedi ponds in wake of upcoming Simhastha-2016 and has implemented Safe Drinking Water Act over the said ponds.

“There is more than 700 Mc Ft water in both the ponds and officials of PHE and UMC have already sent the report to Collectors office that not more than 120 Mc Ft water is used during November to June,” Modi added. One of the farmers said, if ban is not lifted from the usage of water then it will adversely affect the crops of soyabean and potatoes of more than 15 villages. State president of BKS Kamal Singh Aanjana, district general secretary Dashrath Pandya, spokesperson Bharat Singh Bains and others were present in the submission of memorandum.
