Ujjain : Special Pujan was performed by commissioner Ravindra Pastor, collector Kavindra Kiyawat and by other administrative officials in Mahakal temple on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Pujan was commenced on 9.30 am in morning in which administrative officials performed pujan of Lord Mahakaleshwar in Nandi Hall in the presence of 16 Purohits and Pujaris of the temple. Abhishek of deity will be performed by sandalwood and Ubtan on Tuesday on the occasion of Roop Chaudas by the Pujaris. Then priests of the temple will burn fire crackers in the temple campus which will officially mark the commencement of the festival of lights, Diwali in the city. 56 Bhog will be served to Lord Mahakal after Abhishek Pujan on Tuesday.
For increasing the beauty of sanctum sanctorum of the temple Dr Vinod Bhandari along with her wife Manju Bhandari resident of Indore donated 1.3 Kg silver for the beautification work. Walls of entire sanctum sanctorum is to be covered by silver in the proposed beautification project in which more than 150 kg silver has been donated by the devotees till now.
