Ujjain : Senior administrative authorities including Divisional Commissioner Ravindra Pastor, District Collector Kavindra Kiyawat and Zila Panchayat CEO Ruchika Chouhan on Thursday rushed to meet the family of the two farmers who committed suicide in past two days.
The officials consoled the family of Madanlal Singh and Hari Singh resident of villages Piplyahama and Roonji. Madanlal had hanged himself two days ago while Hari had consumed poison ending his life on Wednesday. The authorities assured that every possible help will be given to them.
Officers enjoy, farmers die
Dire irregularities were revealed out during the visit of the officials. It was revealed that where at one place the Ujjain district has received merit award by the hands of Chief Minister for doing most numbers of insurances under PM Insurance Scheme. On the other hand, both of the deceased farmers did not have an account under the PM Insurance Scheme or they would have got compensation of Rs 2 lakhs each. What they have got till now is Rs 2000 for cremation from the local authorities. Also, the laxity of EOW and Police came to the fore when it was the revealed that a micro finance company is siphoning the villagers with 40 percent rate of annual interest and Pipalya Hama villagers have taken around Rs 8 lakh. This revealed the blatant corruption and malpractices going in the lower offices of the administration, who failed to provide loans to the farmers from the government. Divisional Commissioner even lost his cool to the CEO of Khachrod who failed to implement MNREGS and various other government schemes in their areas. Another reason that came out on the house of Hari Singh at village Roonji under Ghattiya Tehsil that unemployment has risen and lack of irrigation has destroyed the farmers.
While authorities were claiming progressive increase in the irrigation area of the division the village Roonji not more than 50 kilo meters away from Ujjain is yet to get proper irrigation in needed times.
