Ujjain : Forest department organised an extensive plantation programme across the division. About 7.23 lakh saplings were planted across the division on July 31, 2014. The initiative will be recorded in Guinness Book of World Records.
Chief Conservator of Forest Dr PC Dubey informed that plantation was done more than the target given to the division. About 55,680 saplings planted in Ujjain district, 34,850 saplings in Shajapur district, 27,315 saplings in Agar district, 1.39 lakh in Ratlam district, 1.35 lakh in Mandsaur district, 1.20 lakh in Neemuch and 2.11 lakh saplings were planted in Dewas district. Total 7,23,980 saplings were planted across the division. Dubey also told that the plantation was done with the cooperation of public. The effort will be recorded by Guinness World Records. As the organisation has followed a procedure as two witnesses appointed by district collectors were present during the plantation.
About 421 logbook keepers were appointed for recording information for world records during the plantation. There were 87 stewards from other departments. They were placed at five percent places as per the rules of Guinness Book. Video recording of plantation was done at 31 places and the clipping was sent to the headquarters after every couple of hours. Photography of 421 sites was done for records. Peoples’ representatives of respective districts were present during the plantation. 550 employees of Forest Department helped in the plantation done at 1450 hectare land. Plantation began on July 24 and in all 13.50 lakh saplings were planted across the division in these days. 80,000 saplings were planted at premises of different schools.
