Ujjain : 69th Home Guard & Citizen Safety Foundation Day was celebrated at Home Guard office premises located at Nagziri here on Friday. Divisional Commissioner Dr Ravindra Pastor was chief guest on this occasion.
Praising the Home Guards cops, IGP V Madhukumar said that they always performed their duty with an utter alertness shouldering with police for maintaining law and order, natural calamity and other occasions. Home Guards are not separated from police. In case of any disaster, they work with honesty. He urged cops to perform their duty with full honesty at upcoming Simhastha Fair. They have been performing their duty facing all sorts of difficulties.
Home Guards cops also took out a march past. Divisional Commandant VP Verma read the message of Home Guad and Citizen Safety MP Director General, Maithilisharan Gupt. Lokmanya Tilak School students presented Mallkhamb while newly appointed cop Sandeep Chauhan also displayed his Mallkhamb skills. Home Guard cops also presented a mock drill on disaster management.
Dr Pastor gave away certificates to Home Guards for excelling in various activities throughout the year. Company Commander Meenakshi Chauhan, SI BK Bandwal, ASI RK Chaturvedi, Dinesh Joshi, Manish Tatwal, Mallkhamb coach Yogesh Malviya, Ishwar Sharma, Havaldar Ammaram Nagar, etc were awarded. Home Guard was first founded at the then Bombay State on December 6, 1946. Jyoti Jain conducted the programme.
Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, Zila Panchayat CEO Ruchika Chauhan, Retired ACG MD Tiwari, ADM Avadhesh Sharma and others were present.
