Ujjain : Four person of a family were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident near Triveni Ghat Bridge early on Monday. Nanakheda Police said since the incident took place around 4 am, no eyewitnesses had come forward so far. But prima facie, it seems that the Maruti Swift the family was travelling in collided with a heavy vehicle, likely a truck.
The injured have been identified as Sumit, Sumeet, Sujoy, and Kamlesh Bangali. Police said all 4 are residents of Bangali colony in Indore, were on their way to Ujjain for pilgrimage.
Passing vehicles spotted the smashed vehicle early in the morning and alerted police. The car was completely totaled and impact of crash was so much severe that engine was ripped off from the engine bay of the car and plunged into the Kshipra River. The car was hit from front side.
A senior officer said, we are attempting to trace the other vehicle that was involved in the accident.
From the debris of the Swift, it is clear that it collided either with a stationary vehicle from the rear or another vehicle crashed into it head on.
The first possibility is more likely, because had it been a head-on collision, it would have damaged the other vehicle as well. A case has been registered Further investigation is on.
